When Does My Coverage Begin? |
Your coverage begins on the first day of the month coincident with or following the date your application is received by IAP, provided your first month's premium has been received by IAP. A Certificate of Insurance and Insurance Benefits Summary will then be sent to you for your 30-day review and acceptance.

When Does My Coverage Terminate? |
An insured person’s insurance will terminate immediately on the earliest of the following dates:
- the termination date of the Policy;
- the due date of any unpaid premiums if the insured customer fails to pay the required premium within the Grace Period;
- the date an insured customer reaches 80 years of age;
- the date of death of an insured customer;
- the date an insured customer ceases to be a “customer” of ATB Financial;
- the date that IAP receives notice from you in writing requesting cancellation of all or part of the insurance;
- with respect to an insured spouse’s insurance, the earliest of the above, the date an insured spouse reaches age 80, or the date an insured spouse no longer qualifies as a “spouse”.

What Kinds of Events Are Covered? What is Not Covered? |
Benefits are not payable for death which is contributed to, resulting from or caused by:
- suicide or any attempt thereat while sane or insane;
- intentionally self-inflicted injury, while sane or insane;
- injury sustained while under the influence of alcohol or any drug taken voluntarily and not prescribed by a licensed physician;
- travel in an aircraft other than as a fare-paying passenger on a regularly scheduled airline;
- insurrection, declared or undeclared war or any act thereof, participation in any riot or civil disorder;
- full-time active service in the armed forces of any country;
- committing or attempting to commit an assault or any criminal offense;
- voluntary inhalation of gas;
- sickness, either mental or physical.

Do the Benefits Payable Ever Decrease As My Age Increases? |
The benefits payable will reduce by 50% on the date the insured person turns 75.

How do I Make a Claim? |
Before paying any benefit, a claims form needs to be duly completed and sent to IAP’s Head Office. Please call IAP toll-free at 1-800-266-5667 or email group@iapacific.com to obtain the appropriate forms and for details on claims procedures.
